Yousif M. Qasmiyeh

Yousif M. Qasmiyeh is Refugee Hosts’ Writer-in-Residence, and a doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford whose research examines the archive, time and containment in refugee literature in Arabic and English. He is a poet and translator who was born and educated in Baddawi refugee camp (Lebanon). His collection Writing the Camp (2021, Broken Sleep Books) was selected as The Poetry Society 2021 Spring Recommendation and was Highly Commended by the Forward Prizes and named as one of the Best Poetry Books of 2021 by The Telegraph and The Irish Times. His poetry, literary criticism and scholarly reflections have been published in journals and magazines including GeoHumanities, Modern Poetry in Translation, Critical Quarterly, Cambridge Literary Review, Humanities and the Journal of Refugee Studies.
